There are so many ways to eat healthy and so many different opinions on how to do it. It can become very complex and even stressful. Now add the RV element to it. We have definitely had to make our adjustments on how we shop for food based on our limited refrigerator and pantry space. When we lived in a sticks and bricks we could keep all the fresh fruits and veggies we wanted and a huge freezer of meat proteins. But we have found our groove on how to make it manageable, healthy, tasty, and budget friendly.
For our family we love to eat Steaks! If it were up to our kids every night would be steak night. But for a family of five, those delicious steak nights would definitely add up. So, instead we save our steak nights for the weekend! It makes it easy to plan and gives everyone a delicious meal to look forward to. With that being said, that doesn't mean the rest of our meals can't be just as delicious. The rest of the week our family enjoys a variety of Chicken dinners. One of the best and easiest dinners is our chicken
bowls. We grill a big family size tray of chicken, make some steamed rice or quinoa, and whatever veggies are in the fridge. Whatever your family eats the most is the baseline of your weekly Shopping list. Then you add all the extra sides, snacks, breakfasts and lunches you are going to eat during the week. For us, we keep breakfasts simple with some eggs and lunches are usually our revamped dinner leftovers. You’ll also need to decide if you will include hygienic and cleaning products in your groceries list or make a separate list for those. For the example we will share here, we have decided to include those items............ Take a look

Once you start making your first spread sheet of what you think you need, you'll find yourself editing as you go. This is the best way to really narrow down what works for your family with the least amount of food waste. Also, in the example we included a general price for each item. As we all know prices are all over the place these days, so be ready to adjust that as well. We find that by pricing each item in the spread sheet, it helps us see exactly how much we are spending and on what we are spending it on. This practice is good for all budgeting. When it comes to the RV life budgeting is an important part of the journey. Every new place you stay has different rates on sites, food prices and gas prices. So when you keep track it becomes easier to plan and stay within what you are comfortable with. We make it a family affair to work on our budgeting plan. It becomes less stressful when you have a team working on it. The kids enjoy learning what it takes to make the "wheels turn" in the RV Adventure and it most definitely takes a lot of planning and budgeting. Now grab your team and start planning and budgeting! Let us know what you think. Share any of your budgeting tips or ask questions in the comments.
